So it’s finally happened, your daughter has got engaged! After the delight and celebrations the sinking feeling sets in, how do we afford this but more importantly what on earth am I going to wear?!
A great Mother of the Bride outfit should help you stand out and feel special, without upstaging your daughter. As wedding ceremonies and receptions become more highly personalised, doesn’t it make sense that your Mother of the Bride outfit should be more personalised too? Why not make it a true reflection of you and let your personality shine through with these 5 tips on how to be a stylish Mother of the Bride:
1) Be different - think bespoke
After your daughter and the bridesmaids the next person everyone is going to be looking at is you. Bespoke made to measure garments are not just for the rich and famous but available to all of us at a cost just above something at the top end of the high street. No one else in the world will have your dress never mind at the wedding.
2) Find a Signature piece of jewellery
If a hat or head piece is not really your thing another great way to put your own personal stamp on your mother of the bride outfit is to add a little individuality and glamour with jewellery.
3) Give a girl the right pair of shoes and she can conquer the world!
What mother of the bride outfit is complete without a fabulous pair of shoes? I can’t overemphasize the importance of comfort when you’ll be on your feet all day and dancing all night.
4) Yes I did say you can wear black to a wedding!
There seems to be this myth that you can’t wear black to a wedding, this is no longer true. Black is elegant and chic, not to mention slimming, and with so many attractive, chic and classy black dresses out there, it’s silly to dismiss an otherwise flattering dress based on color alone.
5) Makeup will finish you off
Although this may seem obvious but there are many women out there who normally don’t wear make-up, even on their daughter’s wedding day. The result is they end up looking washed out in photos. To look like a stylish and polished off Mother of the Bride you really do need some make-up so you’ll shine in those photos.
If you follow these tips to helping you on the way to becoming a stylish Mother of the Bride you’ll wow your family and friends. Don’t be surprised if you overhear them say “Oooh she looks amazing!” remember ladies, I’m here if you need me… You’re Fairy Clothes Mother.
